One Device That Stores AND Charges Camera Batteries on Set // Photoolex BB Pro Review

There’s a moment every filmmaker knows all too well.

You’re deep into a shoot day. The lighting is perfect. The client is finally relaxed. Everything is moving smoothly…

And then you look down at your camera and see it:

One blinking battery bar.

Suddenly, the creative flow stops. Now you’re thinking about chargers, wall outlets, backup batteries, power banks, cables — and whether you packed enough gear to survive the day.

That exact stress is why I’ve been testing what might be the ultimate solution:

The Photoolex BB Pro.

I’ve been using it for the past month, and honestly, I’ve been pushing it to its limits. I wanted to know…

  • Can one charger case really handle a full shoot day?

  • Can it power not just my camera batteries, but also my phone and laptop?

  • And can it replace all the charging gear I normally bring?

Let’s break it all down.

What Is the Photoolex BB Pro?

The Photoolex BB Pro is a dual camera battery charger that also works as a power bank.

It has a built-in 16,500 mAh battery, which is roughly enough for about three full charges of Canon LP-E6P batteries.

For most people, that’s more than enough to last a full day of shooting.

Personally, I never really go past three batteries on a shoot unless I’m using something like the R5 Mark II. But on my Canon C50, I’ve honestly been able to shoot all day with just two extra batteries plus the one already inside the camera.

And what makes this even better is that it’s not just for camera batteries…

It Charges More Than Just Your Camera Batteries

One of the biggest reasons I love the BB Pro is because it can charge other devices too.

On the side, it has:

  • A USB-C port

  • A USB-A port

And it also includes a USB-C cable that doubles as a wrist strap.

I’ll be honest — I don’t plan on using it as a wrist strap. It makes me a little nervous putting that kind of strain on a cable, even though it feels durable. But the option is there.

Both USB-C options can deliver up to 100 watts, which is strong enough to charge something like a laptop.

I’ve had my laptop, my iPhone, a camera flash battery, and two Canon LP-E6P batteries charging all at the same time with no issues whatsoever.

Of course, doing that drains the BB Pro faster — but in a pinch, it’s an absolute lifesaver.

Why Battery Storage Matters More Than You Think

One of the biggest benefits of this charger is that it doubles as battery storage.

That’s what originally interested me.

Instead of having batteries loose in my bag, I can keep them safely stored in the BB Pro without worrying about them getting lost or damaged.

And because they’re always charging inside, I know they’ll be at 100% whenever I need them.

That peace of mind is huge, especially on long shoot days.

The last thing I want to be thinking about is whether I have enough power to make it to the end of the shoot.

Fast Charging That Actually Changes My Workflow

Another thing that blew me away is how fast this thing charges.

The BB Pro can charge two batteries simultaneously, and it does it in about two hours.

That’s wild when you compare it to Canon’s standard LP-E6 charger.

Canon’s charger can only charge one battery at a time, and it takes about 2 to 2.5 hours per battery.

This charges two at once in the same amount of time — effectively twice as fast.

And unlike the Canon charger…

I don’t need a wall outlet.

I can literally throw this in my camera bag with batteries inside and know they’re charging while I’m shooting.

It’s been incredibly convenient.

The Design Is Honestly One of My Favorite Parts

My second favorite thing about the BB Pro is the design.

I really appreciate that it has a built-in 100-watt USB-C cable, because it makes charging super easy. I always have a cable ready to go — whether I’m charging the BB Pro itself or using it to charge another device.

It’s also fairly compact.

It’s still a little big, but compared to my Llano 2-in-1 Charger Power Bank, this one is significantly smaller and slimmer.

The Llano has been great, but I was honestly kind of annoyed by how bulky it was.

This one feels like a huge win in terms of portability.

The LED Screen Is Super Helpful

The built-in LED screen is another great feature.

It lets me quickly check:

  • The battery level of the power bank

  • The charging status of the batteries

  • The output going through all the different cables

That way, I can decide if I need to prioritize charging one device over another.

Can This Be My All-in-One Charger and Power Bank?

Honestly… yes.

When I break it down, the BB Pro pretty much replaces:

  • Two Canon LP-E6 chargers

  • One 100-watt USB-C cable

  • A full power bank

That’s four different devices I don’t need to carry anymore.

Instead, I can just toss one thing in my bag.

It’s convenient, easy to use, and super versatile — especially for anyone doing extremely long shoots.

I still like my Llano charger, but because of all the added benefits of this one — and the smaller design — I’m definitely putting the BB Pro in my bag moving forward.

Quick Note About the Launch

Just a quick heads up: Photoolex did send me this pre-production model to create this video.

They’re launching a crowdfunding campaign for it starting on March 10th, 2026.

If you go to Photoolex.com, you can get exclusive discounts until the campaign ends on March 31st.

And if you’re watching after those dates, you can still pick one up using this link.

Final Thoughts

Battery anxiety on set is real.

And after using the Photoolex BB Pro for the past month, I genuinely think it’s one of the most practical charging solutions I’ve found for filmmakers.

It stores my batteries, charges two at once, powers my other devices, and replaces a whole pile of gear I used to carry around.

So now I’m curious…

Would you use something like this on one of your shoots?
